Ten-man Spurs rescue draw at Man Utd
Ten-man Tottenham salvaged a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Manchester United thanks to Dominic Solanke's last-gasp equaliser at Old Trafford on Saturday.
In a clash dubbed 'El Sackicko' amid scrutiny of both managers, Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead in the 73rd minute, firing home from an acute angle after Matheus Cunha's pass picked him out in the penalty area.
Tottenham looked doomed when Uruguay midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off for headbutting United defender Luke Shaw during a brawl five minutes after the opener.
But Solanke came to Tottenham's rescue in the closing moments, evading United defender Lisandro Martinez to head in Sandro Tonali's cross.
The dramatic finale capped a scrappy encounter between two underachieving teams struggling to find consistency.
Tottenham remain third from bottom and winless after losing three of their first six league matches.
Roberto De Zerbi saved Tottenham from relegation on the final day of last season after taking charge late in the campaign.
However, despite spending more than £300 million ($429 million) on new signings during the close-season, his side have shown little improvement.
United, meanwhile, are languishing in 12th place with only one league win so far this season.
The club had adopted a more conservative approach in the transfer market after an impressive third-place finish last term, but that decision appears to have backfired as manager Michael Carrick struggles to get the best out of an inconsistent squad.
