Kool-BSJA Media Cup football returns Sunday as 20-year tradition continues
As FIFA World Cup fever builds and the summer heat intensifies, journalists from 32 leading media houses are ready to pull double duty on the pitch and in the newsroom next week, following the official draw and jersey unveiling of the Kool-BSJA Media Cup Football Tournament 2026 on Thursday.
Held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association premises, the ceremony signaled the return of a storied tradition that has united the press through sport for over twenty years. The competition will transform the BFF artificial turf into a battleground of friendly rivalry from May 3 (8am) to 7.
The Daily Star kick off their campaign against News 24 at 10am on opening day, while defending champions Dainik Jugantor face Baishakhi TV at the same time.
While the stakes on the pitch can feel high, BSJA president Arifur Rahman Babu reminded participants that the tournament is primarily a “recreational event,” advising players to prioritise the joy of the game and “avoid unnecessary injuries.”
