FIFA wants BFF to avail 17 crores by year's end
Football's highest governing body FIFA has asked the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) to avail the money of FIFA Forward Circle-2 project within this year as Bangladesh attended the FIFA Congress in Qatar last week.
Under the project, the BFF wants to build a technical center in Cox's Bazar but the game's local governing body has yet to secure the required land from the government, thus the project remains on hold.
"As we have sought time from the authority concerning FIFA to settle down the land issue, the FIFA Forward authority asked us to avail the money of the Circle-2 project by this year," BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag told the reporters today.
"Today [Tuesday], I have been informed by the youth and sports ministry that the national sports council, ministry, BFF and Cox's Bazar District authority will jointly inspect the land for the technical center next month, so we are expecting something positive next month.
"If we get confirmation regarding the land, we will proceed to let the FIFA know and they will build the technical center, based on their observation," Shohag added.
Shohag also informed that BFF will receive two millions dollars (around 17 crore takas) under FIFA Forward Circle-2 project.
Meanwhile, under the FIFA Forward Circle-1 project, the BFF had arranged some developmental football tournaments at grassroots level.
