BFF to look into fixing allegations
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) prepares to investigate the fixing allegations former national footballer-cum-coach Saifur Rahman Moni raised against Azampur Football Club Uttara, a team featuring in the Bangladesh Championship League, country's semi-professional football league.
A national daily reported today that coach Moni has resigned from AFC Uttara on March 27, citing that he has raised serious doubt about how their matches against Farashganj SC and Uttara FC went.
Moni claimed that the Farashganj players allowed his charges to score without any resistance while his defenders did the same against Uttara.
"Although neither club nor coach has officially informed us about the allegation of match fixing incident, tomorrow [Saturday] we will issue the letter to the club [AFC Uttara] asking about the club's position and explanation about today's [Friday] published news," Jaber Bin Taher Ansari, BFF's professional league manager, told the Daily Star today.
"We can even write to coach Saifur Rahman Moni to help us provide the evidence if he has anything to back his allegation.
"After getting the reply from the club, we will let the concerned committee [Fixed Match Identification Committee]," Jaber said further while adding the BFF would also investigate the spot-fixing allegations concerning Fakirerpool Young Men's Club.
