BFF, CBF positive about Brazil’s visit

The prospect of Brazil visiting Bangladesh in the coming months appears increasingly likely, with the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) expecting to sit down with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) soon to explore the possibility.

The talks could focus on Bangladesh playing an international friendly against the five-time world champions or Brazil using Bangladesh as a neutral venue, following Sunday's visit by a five-member CBF delegation to Dhaka.

The delegation inspected the National Stadium, Bashundhara Kings Arena and several hotels before returning to Kolkata, where Brazil are scheduled to play a FIFA friendly against India on October 3.

BFF president Tabith Awal met the delegation on Sunday night to discuss facilities, security and possible renovations at the National Stadium.

“The answers are yes. We discussed all options,” Tabith told The Daily Star when asked whether Brazil could play Bangladesh in a September-October friendly or hold a training session in Dhaka before travelling to Kolkata.

However, the BFF later said in a press release today that the CBF would submit its observations and recommendations to its board this week before holding further talks with the BFF.

The press release added that the delegation found Bangladesh's venues and infrastructure “acceptable” but recommended improvements to “dressing rooms, technical zones and security at entry and exit gates.” The BFF said those improvements could be completed within a short period.

Bangladesh are scheduled to compete in the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup in Indonesia, scheduled from September 24 to October 4.
