Cumilla venue cancelled as Abahani, Mohammedan's home shifted
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has changed the home venues of Abahani and Mohammedan two rounds after the start of the Bangladesh Football League after complications arose over the use of Cumilla’s Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium.
Both clubs had initially been assigned the Cumilla venue for their home matches. However, local sports authorities want to use the stadium for other competitions, prompting the BFF to relocate their remaining home fixtures.
Abahani will play their remaining home matches at the Mymensingh District Stadium, while Mohammedan are set to move to the Bir Shreshtha Ft Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
The change has already affected Mohammedan’s next league match against Arambagh Krira Sangha. Originally scheduled for Friday, the match has been moved to Saturday in Munshiganj.
If Mohammedan play their remaining home matches in Munshiganj, three clubs will use the venue for their home fixtures this season, creating further scheduling complications.
The absence of floodlights means two matches cannot be staged at the same venue on the same day. The venue changes will therefore require adjustments to the league fixture list.
