Purbachal stadium to be named after PM: Sikder
The Purbachal stadium will be named after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder announced after a meeting between the Ministry and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) led by president Nazmul Hassan at the Ministry of Youth and Sports office on Tuesday.
The BCB boss and the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Salahuddin went to the ministry yesterday to sort out separate issues. Hassan was there to solve the land allocation problem surrounding the planned Purbachal stadium, while Salahuddin sought to fix the floodlights at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
"We have decided to name the Purbachal Stadium after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," Biren told reporters after the meeting yesterday.
However, both BCB and Sports Ministry are yet to decide over the land allocation for the proposed cricket stadium in Purbachal.
"We have already finalised the outlook of the stadium and hopefully we will be able to start work," Hassan told the media yesterday.
