Shakib brings joy to Mirpur Stadium staff
There was an air of cheeriness at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today amongst the BCB's staff, who take care of daily operations of the stadium. Upon a closer look, it was revealed that there were gifts waiting for them from ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.
While the ground staffs were still going about their work of maintaining the surface at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, there were groups of people coming into the offices that stood opposite the academy ground. Asked, a few of them revealed what they were getting, with Shakib having left BCB officials with the task of distributing among the staff.
Shakib had given 10 lakh Taka for the staff while another BCB director had also chipped in so that at least 250 of BCB's staff, including ground staff, cleaners and security personnel along with workers at the academy, can celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. On being asked, a few security personnel gave a big smile as they talked about receiving the sum of money that Shakib had given them.
A few of the staff also confirmed that the BCB had separately given each staff a gift package ahead of the vacations. It was learned that other cricketers like pacer Taskin Ahmed and wicketkeeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim had individually distributed relief for the workers at the stadium as well.
The pandemic times have been difficult for most workers in the country and when activities at the cricket grounds stopped, there was fear amongst members of the staff on what awaited them in the future. As cricket and the world begins to overcome the effects of the pandemic over the last two years, the gifts from the cricketers brought smiles to those working at the Mirpur Stadium ahead of Eid.
