Rapid recovery sees Litton return for Australia Test series opener

Litton Das has been included in Bangladesh's squad for the first Test in Australia after making a remarkable recovery from the calf injury that had kept him out of action for nearly six weeks.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Saturday that the wicketkeeper-batter had been added to the squad for the opening Test, which begins in Darwin on August 13, after making encouraging progress in his rehabilitation.

"Following positive progress in his recovery from a left calf injury, Litton Kumar Das has been included in Bangladesh's squad for the first Test against Australia, starting on August 13 in Darwin," the BCB said in a statement.

Litton sustained the injury during the third ODI against Australia at home on June 14. Although initially not considered serious, the recovery took longer than expected, forcing him to miss the subsequent T20I series against Australia and Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe.

After undergoing treatment and a series of medical assessments in both Bangladesh and Singapore, Litton had initially been expected to return for the second Test of the Australia series. However, his rehabilitation progressed faster than anticipated, earning him a place in the squad for the series opener.

Litton is scheduled to fly to Darwin on Sunday to join the rest of the squad.
