Junior Tigers must beat USA after NZ washout

By Star Sports Desk

Bangladesh’s ICC Under-19 World Cup Group B match against New Zealand was washed out in Bulawayo today, turning the junior Tigers’ final group fixture against the USA on January 23 in Harare into a must-win encounter.

Relentless rain at the Queens Sports Club allowed only 10 overs of play, even after the match was reduced to a 47-overs-a-side contest. New Zealand reached 51 for 1 before rain returned, eventually forcing an abandonment, with both teams sharing the points.

Following an 18-run defeat via the DLS method against India in their tournament opener at the same venue on January 17, Bangladesh now sit third in Group B with just one point from two matches.

India, who face New Zealand in their final group game on January 24, have already qualified for the Super Sixes. Two more teams would be advancing to the next round from this group.
