Good start, says Taijul as Tigers begin training in Darwin
Bangladesh began their preparations for the upcoming Test series against Australia, with veteran spinner Taijul Islam expressing satisfaction after the Tigers' first training session at the DXC Arena in Darwin on Monday.
Following a team huddle and briefing on the outfield, the players eased into training with stretching exercises and sprint drills before moving into skill-specific work.
Batters spent extended periods in the practice nets against the bowlers, while the rest of the squad rotated through fielding drills, running exercises and other fitness activities.
Taijul said the team had travelled comfortably after benefiting from a transit break during the journey, allowing the players to arrive well-rested.
"The journey was good because we had a transit and got enough rest there. Alhamdulillah, everything went well," Taijul said in a video message.
The experienced left-arm spinner was particularly pleased with the facilities in Darwin, saying they had allowed the team to complete a full range of training activities on the opening day.
"Overall, the preparation has been good. The first day's practice was very good… the facilities here are excellent," he said.
"From the wicket to the fielding area, and from fielding practice to running drills, we are able to do every kind of activity. Everything has been very good."
Bangladesh are touring Australia for their first Test series there since 2003 and face a formidable challenge against a full-strength home side in the two-match World Test Championship series.
