Four-figure Anamul sets world record

He previously broke a world record held for 30 years
Star Sports Report

Anamul Haque Bijoy's season for Prime Bank in the Dhaka Premier League has been nothing of incredible. The wicketkeeper-batter has shown such consistency with the willow that is unmatched, not only domestically but also internationally. Records speaks for itself as Bijoy, yesterday, became the first player in the world to have reached the thousand-run milestone in a List A cricket tournament as he scored 112 for his side against Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club at BKSP.

Bijoy, however, had already became the highest run-scorer in world history in List  A cricket in the previous match. On April 24, against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, a 52-run knock had taken the 29-year-old past Tom Moody in the leaderboard, whose 917 in 15 innings for Worcestershire in England's Sunday League had stood at the top since 1991. It took Bijoy 13 innings to surpass the Australian. And following yesterday, Bijoy now stands in a world of his own with 1042 runs off 14 innings.

Now it will interesting to see if Bijoy can make his way back into national colours after being in and out of the Tigers since making his debut in 2012, having played his last ODI in 2019 against Sri Lanka.
