Bangladesh emerging team bowled out for 89 in heavy defeat to SA

Bangladesh Emerging team endured a disappointing start to the one-day tri-series in South Africa, slumping to a seven-wicket defeat against South Africa Emerging at Groenkloof Oval in Pretoria on Saturday.

After being sent in to bat, Bangladesh struggled from the outset as the hosts' bowlers struck regularly to dismiss them for just 89 in 30.2 overs.

Opener Mahfizul Islam was the only batter to offer significant resistance, scoring a patient 40 off 73 deliveries. Aminul Islam Biplob (11) and Samiun Basir (10) were the only other batters to reach double figures.

National team batter Mahidul Islam Ankon endured a difficult stay at the crease, managing just two runs from 28 balls before being dismissed.
South Africa pacer Dayyaan Galiem starred with the ball, claiming 5-18 in 8.2 overs, while Andile Mogakane chipped in with two wickets.

In reply, South Africa comfortably chased down the target, reaching 92 for three in 18.4 overs to register their second successive win of the tournament.

Richard Seletswane remained unbeaten on 35 off 40 balls, while Mitchell van Buuren finished unbeaten on 18 from 22 deliveries.

For Bangladesh, Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan was the most successful bowler, taking 2-22 from four overs.

South Africa Emerging had opened their campaign with a 42-run victory over USSA at the same venue on July 30.

Bangladesh will look to bounce back when they face USSA in their second match at Tuks Oval in Pretoria on Monday.

The three teams are playing each other twice in a double round-robin format, with the top two sides advancing to the final on August 12.
