Bangladesh 'A' bounce back with 22-run win against NT Strike
Bangladesh 'A' team returned to winning ways with a 22-run victory over Northern Territory Strike in their fourth match of the Top End T20 series in Darwin on Tuesday.
The win lifted the Nurul Hasan Sohan-led side to seventh position on the 11-team table with four points from four matches as they have lost two games and won two.
It was a dominating win for Bangladesh 'A' side who were asked to bat first by the hosts in Darwin. Bangladesh were aggressive from the beginning as the opening stand between Naim Sheikh and Jishan Alam yielded 55 runs in 3.3 overs. Naim departed for an 11-ball 25 before Jishan, who has been in fine form throughout the series, was dismissed after a 23-ball 30.
After Saif Hassan (3) departed cheaply, Bangladesh's run-rate dropped a bit but Afif Hossain (41* off 40) alongside cameos from Sohan (35 off 23) and Yasir Ali (22* off 13) helped the visitors to a challenging total of 172 for four.
NT Strike found themselves in trouble early losing three wickets for 24 runs, including the scalp of skipper and former Australia opener D'Arcy Short. Connor Carrol's 43 and Jordan Silk's 48 gave the hosts hope but they could eventually manage only 150.
Hasan Mahmud, Tofael Ahmed and Rakibul Hasan took two wickets each for Bangladesh 'A' team, who will play their next match against Melbourne Stars Academy on Thursday.
