U-17s clinch Afghan series

The Bangladesh Under-17 team clinched the three-match one-day series against Afghanistan Under-17 2-1 after winning the third and final match by seven wickets at the Greater Noida Sports Ground in India yesterday.

Afghanistan batsmen faced the music after being asked to bat. Apart from skipper and opener Ijaz's top score of 45 and Mohammad Ishaq's 24 none of the batsmen were able to reach double figures and were eventually bundled out for just 114 in 44.4 overs.

Left-arm spinner Mehedi Hasan bagged three wickets while Mrittunjoyi Chowdhury and Tahsin took two wickets for the bowling side.

Bangladesh reached the target with ease, riding on an unbeaten 79-ball 54 from opener Prantik Nowroz. Skipper Parvez Hossain added 32 to clinch a comfortable win in 29.3 overs, losing just three wickets.

Bangladesh have come back strong after losing the first one-day and went on to win the next two games to clinch the series.
