Tigers' only warm-up today
Since arriving in Dehradun on Tues-day, the visiting Bangladesh team will take part in their first competitive outing ahead of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan when they take on an Afghan XI in a practice game at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium today.
The game will be played under lights and start at 8:00 pm local time -- the same start time as the matches of the T20I series so that the tourists can get acclimatised with the match conditions.
Tigers' T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan also joined the team yesterday alongside chief selector Minhajul Abedin and went directly to the stadium from the airport to meet his teammates.
Bangladesh spent some time on the centre wicket over the past two days, but the pitch remained on the slower and lower side, which hardly helped the cricketers get a proper idea of the wicket.
The Afghan XI will feature members of the Afghanistan squad and, according to opener Soumya Sarkar, the match will help them get an idea of their opposition.
"Obviously if their [Afghanistan's] main bowlers take part in the practice game it will certainly help us get an idea of their team and also the bowlers. Personally, it's an important series for me and I will try to prove my worth and build my confidence," said Soumya.
On the other hand, young all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain informed that the practice game will help them to adjust with conditions better.
"Obviously, it's a bit hotter here in Dehradun than it is in Bangladesh and our first training session on Wednesday and the one today [Thursday] has helped us adjust with conditions. I think playing the practice game tomorrow [Friday] will help us more in terms of getting used to the pitch." Mosaddek said.
