U-19s take lead against Sri Lanka
The Bangladesh U-19 team bowled out their Sri Lankan counterparts for 288 to take a 39-run lead at the close of play on third day of the four-day match at the NCC Ground in Colombo yesterday.
Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan and Towhid Hridoy were the destroyers-in-chief for the young Tigers, bagging three wickets each.
Tawhid did the early damage, picking up the wickets of Nipun Dhananjaya and Navod Dinusriparanavithana early in the day before a 90-run fourth-wicket partnership between Mohammad Shamz and Sonal Dinusha stabilised the hosts' innings.
Rakibul went on to bag the prized wicket of Sonal, who held the Lankan innings together with his 201-ball 100.
Left-arm medium pacer Shoriful Islam and Shahin Alam also bagged two wickets.
Bangladesh lost opener Tanjid Hasan and reached stumps at 18 for one in their second innings.
The young Tigers had earlier failed to capitalize on a good start on the first day and slumped to 309 all-out in their first innings.
