Shaiful's fifer, Ariful's all-round performance the highlights
20-year-old Saif Hassan struck a magnificent unbeaten 83 as Prime Doleshwar clinched victory against Shinepukur Cricket Club in their opening encounter of the Dhaka Premier League 50-over format at Fatullah today but the day also belonged to Shafiul Islam who bagged five wickets to cause a top-order collapse in Mohammedan Sporting Club's win over Gazi group.
Saif's innings was the highlight of the day in an otherwise tough day for batsmen across the DPL today. Saif's opening partner Farhad Hossain also remained unbeaten on 66 as Prime Doleshwar overcame Shinepukur's haul of 175 all out with nine wickets to spare. Saif struck five fours and two sixes during his 132-ball 83, getting one over Shinepukur's own brand of young upcoming stars such as Afif Hossain and Towhid Hridoy.
At Savar, Rakibul Hasan turned hero with the bat for Mohammedan Sporting Club as they won by three wickets. Gazi rode on 24-year old Shamsul Islam's 111-ball 71 not out to reach 182 all out following a terrible start where they lost six wickets for 26 runs. Shafiul grabbed five for 32 before Rakibul struck an unbeaten 82 off 124 deliveries to see his side over the rope.
