Hassan to meet Rhodes today
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan said that they might get a clearer picture of the Tigers' next head coach after today's interview session with Englishman Steve Rhodes.
"He is in the common shortlists that we have made and [Gary] Kirsten has suggested. That's why we have called him. I'm not ruling out signing a contract with him. We will first have a face to face with him tomorrow. And hopefully, we can give you a clearer picture about Bangladesh's next head coach after the meeting," Hasan told reporters at his Gulshan residence yesterday.
Rhodes, who played 11 Tests and nine ODIs in the late '80s and '90s for England, was the director of cricket for Worcestershire but left his post following an internal investigation in November last year.
Rhodes is scheduled to fly into Dhaka today for the crucial meeting with the BCB president in Mirpur. Bangladesh have been without a head coach since the sudden departure of Sri Lankan Chandika Hathurusingha in November 2017.
The BCB boss also turned his focus to the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in Dehradun, where the Tigers lost the first two games badly. He squarely blamed the batting for the debacle.
"If you think that you can win a T20 game by scoring 120-130 then you are not supposed to win a game. You will have to score at least 160, which is a par score, if you want to win a game. They are blaming the bowling. But in my opinion the batting debacle is to be blamed," Hasan told reporters.
