4 killed as truck hits human hauler in Cumilla

Four people were killed and five injured as a truck collided head-on with a human hauler on the Cumilla-Sylhet highway in Burichong upazila of Cumilla today.

Two of the deceased were identified as Billal Hossain Bhuiyan (35) and his sister Nipa Akhter (40) of Pir Jatrapur area under the same upazila, our Cumilla correspondent reports quoting police.

Safayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mainamati Crossing Highway Police Station, said the Sylhet-bound truck collided with the Mainamati cantonment-bound human hauler (Leguna) on the highway at Horindhora around 11:30am.

The accident left two human hauler passengers dead on the spot and seven other passengers injured, said the OC.

The injured were taken to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where doctors declared two of the injured dead, added the OC.
