22nd session of JS to continue till Sep 20
The 22nd session of the Jatiya Sangsad will continue till September 20 as it resumed this afternoon after a 58-day recess.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the parliament at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
There will be 10 sitting days in this session till September 20, according to a press release of the parliament secretariat.
The House began proceedings of the 22nd session of the 10th parliament at 5:00pm. President M Abdul Hamid convened the session exercising his power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution.
Parliament Secretariat sources said this will be the last session of the current parliament.
Several important bills, including the proposed Digital Security Act, Bangladesh Road Transport Act, and amendment to the Representation of the People Order (RPO) Bill, are likely to be passed in this session, the sources added.
Earlier, the 21st session (budget session) of incumbent parliament was prorogued on July 12 last.
