Fakhrul welcomes Hasina, Obaidul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today welcomed Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader as they were elected president and general secretary of Awami League respectively.

Fakhrul made the wish at a programme in Dhaka this afternoon, minutes after Sheikh Hasina was unanimously re-elected as president of Awami League.

In his impromptu reaction, the BNP leader also welcomed Obaidul Quader as the general secretary of the party.

“We expect that the country’s destroyed democracy and snatched people’s rights will be brought back through the Awami League’s council. But we are disappointed that there is no direction in Sheikh Hasina’s speech in this regard,” he added.
