Covid-19: Number of police personnel infected reaches 6,718

The total number of police personnel infected with Covid-19 across the country reached to 6,718, according to a tally by the Police Headquarters.

Of those infected, 1,885 are from Dhaka Metropolitan Police only, it added.

Meanwhile, more than 3,015 police personnel have recovered so far, with many having already rejoined their duties while 19 have died due to the infection.

Besides, 10,925 others are in isolation or quarantine as they have either showed Covid-19 like symptoms or come in contact with infected colleagues or patients.

Police officials said the number of infected among police is on the rise as it is quite difficult for law enforcers to carry out their duties without coming into regular contact with people.
