The Election Commission (EC) today directed printing presses across the country not to print any posters ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, scheduled for February 12.

For the first time in Bangladesh’s electoral history, the EC introduced a comprehensive code of conduct on November 10 last year, which bans the use of posters and sets clear guidelines for social media campaign activities.

In line with the directive, the constitutional body overseeing the election issued a letter today reminding all contesting candidates that campaign activities must strictly adhere to the electoral code of conduct, which explicitly prohibits the use of posters.

“Ahead of the national election on February 12, campaign activities by contesting candidates are ongoing. As per Rule 7 of the Code of Conduct for political parties and candidates, no posters may be used in election campaigns,” the EC said in a letter signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain.

The EC also requested printing presses to refrain from producing posters and urged all concerned to take necessary measures to ensure strict adherence to the 2025 electoral code of conduct.

The directive was sent through letters to the Dhaka and Chattogram divisional commissioners, Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna regional election officers, and all deputy commissioners nationwide.
