To ease the pressure of vehicles and keep the ferry services normal on the Paturia-Daulatdia route, four ferries have been brought from Munshiganj's Mawa Ghat yesterday.

Ferry services remains hampered as ferries have been moving slowly due to the strong current in the Padma river for the last few days, said Md Zillur Rahman, deputy general manager (commerce) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) of Aricha regional office.

Four ferries -- Keramat Ali, Golam Mawla, Enayetpuri and Shah Poran – were brought from Munshiganj's Mawa Ghat to reduce the pressure of vehicles, he added.

More than 500 goods-carrying trucks remain stuck at Paturia Ghat in Manikganj as the ferries are allowing only commuters, passengers' vehicles and transport involved in emergency services on a priority basis.

Apart from the stranded trucks, 70 long-distance buses, and 80 small buses were also seen stuck at the ferry terminal.
