Protesters at Farmgate demand formation of Noakhali division

A group of demonstrators staged a protest at Khamarbari intersection in Dhaka this evening, demanding the formation of Noakhali division.

Around 5:30pm, the protesters were seen chanting "We want Noakhali division" near the entrance of Manik Mia Avenue, reports our correspondent from the spot.

Army personnel were deployed in the area and stopped the protesters from entering the avenue.

One of the protesters was heard announcing through a loudspeaker, "The demand for Noakhali division must be fulfilled."

The demonstrators shouted slogans and waved placards in support of their demand.

People from Noakhali and adjoining districts joined the protest, which continued amid heightened security around the area.
