Next polls will be be held under Hasina: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the final message from his party to BNP is that the next national election will be held under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and that she will come to power again after winning people's votes.

"Our message from this event is clear. Sheikh Hasina will not resign during the election period. She will lead the polls-time government," he said.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was addressing the AL's "peace rally" at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram national mosque in the capital.

The AL's Dhaka north and south city units arranged the rally marking the 60th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The AL general secretary said, "The caretaker government system is a dead issue now.... The system will not be restored."
