Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) announced that they will gather about 5 lakh leaders and activists from all units for its "massive student rally" on September 1 at Suhrawardy Udyan, where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend as chief guest.

Chhatra League President Saddam Hussain made the announcement today at a press conference at Madhur Canteen in Dhaka University.

Chhatra League President said, "Many rallies and meetings were held earlier. But no rally was arranged by only students. For this reason, we termed it a massive student rally ... About five lakh students from across the country will join us at our rally.

"We had planned to hold the rally on August 31. But we changed the date due to the HSC exam being on the same day considering their suffering. We decided to hold it on September 1."

BCL General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan said, "We are going through a very challenging time. This is the time to determine our future and the future of the country. At this crucial time, we are going to arrange a huge student rally at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan on September 1."
