Steps taken to declare Sandwip as seaport: CA

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus yesterday said initiatives have been taken to declare Sandwip as a seaport and open the Kumira-Guptachara ghat.

Yunus said this at a public gathering arranged on the occasion of the launch of ferry service on Chattogram-Sandwip route.

He joined the event virtually from the state guest house Jamuna here.

He said once these initiatives are implemented, the long-standing suffering of the Sandwip dwellers will minimise.

Shipping Adviser M Shakhawat Hossain inaugurated the newly constructed ferry terminal and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) bus station at Banshbaria in Sitakunda at 8:30am.
