Inqilab Moncho will never practice sympathy politics: Member Secretary Jaber

Platform vows fielding no candidate from Dhaka-8 unless one matches Hadi’s calibre

Inqilab Moncho's Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said today that the platform will not field any candidate in the Dhaka-8 constituency unless someone with the calibre and qualifications of Sharif Osman Hadi emerges.

"We do not want to contest elections on sympathy. Inqilab Moncho will never practice sympathy politics. I give you that assurance," he told demonstrators during a blockade programme at Shahbagh this afternoon.

The platform began blocking the Shahbagh intersection at 2:15pm today, demanding the arrest and trial of those responsible for Hadi's killing. Daily blockades have continued since Friday.

Addressing calls for electoral participation, Jaber stressed that Inqilab Moncho is not a political party but a cultural movement and a platform for political pressure.

He noted that Hadi had sought to contest elections as an independent candidate, not under Inqilab Moncho's banner.

He added that the platform would never "lease itself to power" or depend on authority, saying Hadi's vision was to shape the future of Bangladesh's politics rather than pursue personal gain.

Jaber urged political parties, including BNP, Jamaat, and NCP, to stand with the people in demanding justice for Hadi's murder.

"If you are not vocal about justice, the people will compel you to be vocal in the next election," he warned.

He cautioned against exploiting Hadi's name for political advantage, saying voters would judge leaders by their records rather than emotion.
