Holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi to be observed in Bangladesh on August 26

The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and death anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed across the country on August 26 with due religious solemnity.

The decision came from a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation Conference Room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Thursday evening with Religious Affairs Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad in the chair, according to a press release.

The meeting announced that as the moon of Rabi al-Awwal of 1448 Hijri was not sighted in the sky of Bangladesh today, the month of Safar will end tomorrow, completing 30 days.

Rabi al-Awwal will begin on Saturday (August 15).

Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on 12th Rabi al-Awwal in 570 AD. He also passed away on the same date.

The day is a public holiday in Bangladesh.
