Traffickers tricked them

The family of one of the three college girls, who left their Pallabi homes with cash, gold jewelry, and other valuables on Thursday, fears that the girls have been tricked by human traffickers.

Police are yet to trace the three college students, all of them 12th graders and aged around 15.

The mother of one of the missing girls submitted a written complaint with Pallabi Police Station on Friday.

Shah Kamal, assistant commissioner of Pallabi zone, told The Daily Star that they could not trace the missing girls and did not know whether they were inside or outside the country.

"We are securitising their mobile phone call lists and trying to identify their possible connections and whereabouts," the official said.

Contacted, Pallabi Police Sub-inspector (SI) Sajib Khan said that several police teams and intelligence agencies were looking for the missing girls.

According to the complaint, three youths including two siblings and a girl tempted the three to go abroad.

The family member of the missing girl alleged that the accused girl, who is a familiar face on TikTok, may have had a hand in trafficking the girls.

Police said that they were quizzing the trio.

According to the complaint, the three girls left their homes around 9:00am on Thursday without telling anyone.

One girl took Tk 6 lakh, another took 2.5 tolas of gold and the other girl took Tk 75,000 along with their mobile phones, the complaint added.

Sources in Pallabi Police Station told The Daily Star last night that a case in this regard was being filed.
