Senior judge mugged on Dhaka’s Manik Mia Avenue, phone snatched

A senior district and sessions judge was mugged on Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka last night, during which the muggers made off with his mobile phone.

Emaul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, confirmed the incident to The Daily Star, saying it occurred around 8:45 pm while the judge was walking from Manik Mia Avenue towards Asad Avenue.

Judge Arunava Chakraborty has filed a general diary with the police station.

Quoting the judge, the OC said three muggers stopped him on his way and took away his mobile phone.

Police launched an investigation into the case.
