Salman F Rahman, Shajahan Khan, 3 others shown arrested in separate cases
Salman F Rahman, private industry affairs adviser to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former shipping minister Shajahan Khan, and three others were shown arrested today in four separate cases filed in Dhaka.
The three others are Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former state minister for posts, telecommunications and information technology; Atiqul Islam, former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation; and former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sharifur Rahman passed the orders after four investigation officers submitted applications in this regard.
Salman F Rahman was shown arrested in a case filed with the Mirpur Model Police Station over the death of garment worker Asifur Rahman, 17, during the quota reform movement in police firing at Mirpur on July 19.
Meanwhile, Shahjajhan Khan was shown arrested in a case filed with the Hatirjheel Police Station over the death of 58-year-old Gangacharan Rajbangshi at Pragati Sarani during the quota reform movement on July 18.
On the other hand, Palak was shown arrested in a case filed with the Shahbagh Police Station over the death of Belal Hossain Rabbi at Bangla Motor in police firing during the movement on August 4.
Atiqul Islam and Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun were shown arrested in a case filed with Uttara West Police Station over the death of Sabbir Hossain in Uttara's Rabindra Sarani during the quota reform movement on July 18.
During the hearing today, all five accused were produced before the court under tight security.
