Recruitment controversy: ICT special assistant's PO quizzed at ACC
Atiq Morshed, personal officer to the ICT special assistant to the chief adviser at mobile financial service provider Nagad, today appeared before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today as part of an investigation into allegations of irregular recruitment and embezzlement of Tk 150 crore.
However, his wife, Zakia Sultana Jui, did not appear before the commission.
"It wasn't exactly an interrogation," a senior ACC official said today.
"During yesterday's raid, the team could not extract any information from him. So he was asked over the phone to come in," he added.
Atiq did not speak to the media at the commission.
Earlier, following allegations of recruitment-related irregularities, the ACC conducted a raid on Nagad's Banani office yesterday.
According to a press release from the commission, the operation -- carried out by a team from its head office -- found preliminary evidence of irregularities in Nagad's recruitment practices.
