Hadi murder: Dhaka court orders CID to submit probe report by Feb 3
A Dhaka court today directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit its probe report by February 3 in the case filed over the killing of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
The order was passed by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zonaid after the CID failed to submit the report today, according to a police officer at the court.
The court instructed the CID on January 25 to file the report by today.
Hadi was shot on December 12, 2025, while campaigning in Dhaka’s Paltan area. He succumbed to his injuries on December 18 while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
Following the incident, Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14 against Faisal Karim Masud and several unnamed individuals. The case was later converted into a murder case.
On January 6 this year, investigation officer Faisal Ahmed, an inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, submitted a charge sheet naming prime accused Faisal Karim, four of his family members, and 12 others.
However, on January 15, complainant Jaber filed a no‑confidence petition, rejecting DB’s probe report. The court subsequently granted the petition and ordered the CID to conduct a further investigation into the case.
