Forest staffers attacked in Cox’s Bazar, 12 injured
At least 12 forest department staffers were severely injured while coming back from an eviction drive at Juariyanala union under Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar this morning in an attack by miscreants.
Two range officers of Juariyanala Range and PM Khali Range are among the injured, said Arup Kumar Chowdhury, acting officer-in-charge of Ramu police station.
They were taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar hospital, the OC added.
Touhidul Islam, divisional forest officer of Cox's Bazar, said that his staff went to demolish illegal structures built on forestland.
They pulled down the structure without any interruption, but while returning from the spot, miscreants attacked them with sharp weapons.
A case will be filed in this regard, he added.
Police is conducting a drive to catch the miscreants, the OC said.
