Domestic help’s body recovered: Employers arrested from Niketon

Three days after the body of a woman was recovered from Turag area, police yesterday arrested her employers on charge of murder from capital's Niketan.

The victim Parveen alias Fancy Ara's (30) employers had beaten her to death at their Niketan house in the capital and later dumped the body to hide evidence, said Md Jahangir Alam, superintendent of police of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Dhaka Metro (North), at a press conference today.

The arrestees are Syed Jashimul Haque (63) and his wife Syeda Samina Hasan (60).

"Samina admitted to beating Parveen to death suspecting her immoral relationship with her husband," SP Jahangir told The Daily Star.

"Around 9am on December 1, Samina started beating Parveen indiscriminately with a stick resulting in the victim becoming unconscious and eventually dying," said the SP at the press conference.

In a bid to hide the evidence, the couple took Parveen's body in the Turag area in a private car with the help of driver Ramzan Ali and dumped it at the jhawbon (catkin field) there.

The victim was identified with the help of technology. She hailed from Alokdihi Sarkar Para in Chilirbandar of ​​Dinajpur, said the police official.

Parveen came to Dhaka with her husband Mominul Haque nearly two years ago in search of a livelihood. Her husband started pulling a rickshaw while she took a job as a maid at the couple's Niketan house.

They used to give Parveen Tk 1,000 a month though she was supposed to be paid Tk 7,000 as monthly salary, police said.

The victim's husband Mominul who filed a murder case told the police that Samina used to beat his wife and confined her at the house. He was not allowed to meet her, police said quoting Mominul.
