2 tonnes Jatka seized in Chandpur

Members of Coast Guard have seized two tonnes of jatka (young hilsa) from Machghat area of Baro Station in Chandpur today.

No one was detained during the drive, reports our Chandpur correspondent quoting Lt Col Mashad Uddin, station commander of Chandpur Coast Guard.

Based on a tip-off, a team of Coast Guard conducted a drive at Machghat area and seized the jatka in an abandoned state while the fishermen fled the scene.

Later, the seized hilsa were distributed among the orphanages and poor people, he added.
