2 Bangladeshis shot dead ‘by BSF’ in Sylhet

Two Bangladeshis were shot dead by Indian Border Security Force in Dona border area of Kanaighat upazila yesterday, police said quoting locals.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed till filing of this report last night.

Mohammad Tajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kanaighat Police Station, said the duo was shot on the "no man's land" along the Dona border early yesterday. Locals saw the bodies around noon.

Police went to the spot, but could not recover the bodies as those were lying on "no man's land", he added.

A BGB-BSF flag meeting is needed in this regard, the OC said.

This correspondent could not reach the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) official concerned over the phone for comments.
