Woman killed after being crushed by truck in Jashore

A woman was killed after being crushed by a truck on Jashore-Benapole highway in Jashore's Sharsha upazila last night.

The deceased has been identified as Tania khatun, 30. Her husband, Selim Hossain, sustained minor injuries during the accident, police said.

Tania was riding the motorcycle heading to Navaran around 10:00pm. Her husband was the pillion rider.

On the way, when she reached the Trimohini Shyamlagachhi intersection, a Benapole-bound truck hit their motorcycle. She fell off and was crushed under the truck wheels and died on the spot, said Roknuzzaman, inspector of Navaran Highway Police Outpost.

The truck sped off after the accident took place.

Selim took primary treatment from Navaran Upazila Health Complex, he said.

Necessary legal action has been taken, the inspector added.
