Man killed as truck hits motorcycle in Rajbari

A man was killed and two others injured after a truck hit their motorcycle on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional highway in Rajbari's Sadar upazila this afternoon.

The deceased, Al-Amin Sardar, 22, son of Samad Sardar from Vhogirathpur village, was a worker at Rajbari Jute Mill, police said.

Quoting locals, Md Shamim Sheikh, officer-in-charge of Alhadipur Highway Police Station, said the accident occurred when Al-Amin and two fellow workers were heading to Alhadipur Bazar on a motorcycle.

As they reached the Rajbari Jute Mill area in Alhadipur around 2:00pm, a truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into their motorcycle, leaving all three seriously injured.

They were rushed to Rajbari Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Al-Amin dead. The two others were referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Police seized the truck following the accident, but the driver managed to flee the scene, the OC added.
