‘Deploy army, so that we can at least get our relative's body’
Dismayed at the delay in the rescue operation, grief-stricken Abdul Mannan who came from Chattogram in search of his niece's husband, urged the government to deploy army to speed up rescue operations.
Mannan, hailing from port city's Halishahar. told The Daily Star his niece's husband used to work in Bangladesh Sanitary in the building's basement.
"We heard the news of the explosion in the evening and rushed to Dhaka in search of Mehedi Hasan Swopon, my niece's husband," he said.
He vented his anger saying the rescue operations were not as fast as they had hoped.
"I urge the prime minister to deploy the army to accelerate the rescue operation so that we can get the dead body of our relative at least," he said.
Fire service started rescue operation around 9.30 pm in the presence of Rab, Police.
