6 dead as bus hits auto-rickshaw on Ctg-Cox’s Bazar highway

Six people were killed as a bus rammed into a CNG-run auto rickshaw at Bhayar Dighir Par in Patiya Bypass on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway around 8:30pm today.

The accident took place when the Chattogram-bound bus, coming from Cox's Bazar, hit the auto rickshaw coming from Chandanaish upazila, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting SM Rashidul Haque, Chattogram superintendent of police.

Six people including a woman were killed while some 10 others were injured in the accident, he said.

The auto-rickshaw was smashed while the bus plunged into a roadside paddy field after the accident, he added.

The injured passengers were admitted to Patiya Upazila Health Complex.

On information, police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured people, he said, adding, fire service officials were informed to join in the rescue operation.

The identities of the deceased and the injured could not be known immediately.
