Chattogram civil surgeon made OSD, new official appointed
Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Civil Surgeon of Chattogram, has been made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) and transferred to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohammad Sajedur Rahman, upazila health and family planning officer of Barura in Cumilla, has been posted as the new Civil Surgeon (current charge) of Chattogram.
The Health Services Division’s Per-2 branch of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a notification in this regard yesterday, stating that the order was issued in the public interest.
According to the order, the transferred officials must join their new posts by August 24. Failure to do so will result in them being stand-released from their current posts from August 25.
Dr Jahangir Alam Chowdhury assumed the post of Chattogram Civil Surgeon following the political shift in August 2024.
When contacted, Chattogram Divisional Director (Health) Dr Fazle Rabbi described the move as a routine transfer.
“This OSD order and the new appointment have no connection to allegations of corruption or irregularities; at least, I have no such information,” Dr Fazle Rabbi said.
“It is a routine transfer and posting. Perhaps Dr Jahangir Alam will be assigned to a new position, which is why he has been made an OSD and attached to the health directorate,” he said.
