Abducted madrasa girl found, schoolgirl yet to be rescued
A madrasa girl, abducted on Thursday in the district, was rescued in Rangpur yesterday while a schoolgirl picked up by criminals more than two weeks ago, still remained traceless.
The madrasa girl was rescued in unconscious state from the platform of Rangpur railway station yesterday noon.
She was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, police said, quoting her family members.
Police said they will collect details of the incident from the girl after she regained sense.
The 13-year-old girl was picked up by a gang on her way to madrasa at Kashirampur village in Kaliganj upazila of the district on Thursday.
She is a student of class seven at Karimpir Dakhil Madrasa.
Family sources said that the girl was abducted as she refused to entertain an indecent proposal of a local criminal about a month ago.
Police would not disclose the names of abductors as they had already launched a drive to arrest the criminals, OC of Kaliganj PS Amiruzzaman said.
Meanwhile, more than 14 days into the abduction of a schoolgirl by a local gang at Paschim Sarodubi village of Barokhata union in Hatibandha upazila, police are yet to make any headway in the case.
The family members of the victim expressed frustration over police activities.
The 13-year-old girl was a student of class eight at Barokhata High School in the upazila.
According to the case statement, the schoolgirl was forcibly picked up on the way to home from school by four people, led by Sirajul Islam, at noon on February 2.
Locals said, Sirajul used to disturb the schoolgirl on her way to school and home everyday. Local leaders asked Sirajul not disturb the schoolgirl one week before of her abduction. However, defying the decision, he abducted the schoolgirl with help of some friends.
Father of the victim lodged a case, accusing four people including Sirajul Islam with Hatibandha PS but police seem to remain indifferent to the matter.
