Minor girl killed in fire incident
A six-year-old girl was killed and her elder sister injured as a fire broke out at their house at Chakmathurabad in Dumuria upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Meem, daughter of Jamal of the village. The injured is Tumpa, 10.
Locals said the fire originated from the kitchen at about 9:30 pm and soon engulfed the entire house when Meem and Tumpa along with their two other siblings were staying at the house. Jamal and his wife left the house for a local bazaar before the incident took place.
Tumpa and Meem took shelter under a cot to save themselves from the blaze while their two siblings managed to come out of the house and raised an alarm.
Later, locals rushed to the spot, doused the blaze and took the two sisters out of the house in an unconscious condition. In the meantime, Meem died.
Badly injured, Tumpa was rushed to the burn unit of Khulna Medical College Hospital.
