BMA protests assault on doctor in Nachole

Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Chapainawabganj unit yesterday formed a human chain in the town demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the persons who attacked a doctor in Nachole upazila on October 8. Doctors and nurses of all health complexes in the district joined the programme. Besides, they started a three-hour work abstention from 9:00am yesterday at Adhunik Sadar Hospital and all upazila health complexes. The work abstention would continue until the demand was met, BMA leaders said. An elderly man named Barzahan Ali was rushed to Nachole Upazila Health Complex after he fell seriously sick on October 8. At this, on duty doctor Monjure Khuda of the health complex was not available. After over half an hour, the doctor reached the health complex and declared the patient dead. As the death news spread, the relatives of the deceased assaulted the doctor, said Firoz Kabir, officer in-charge of Nachole Police Station. The doctor filed a case against Mohammd Hanif, son of the deceased, and others, said the OC.
