AL man assaults headmaster for not getting job
The headmaster of a school in Uzirpur upazila was allegedly assaulted by a local Awami League leader on Saturday as he was not given a job in the school.
Anath Bandhu Haldar, headmaster of Natherkandi Secondary School, told this correspondent that 15 candidates including Liton Pandey, AL secretary of Ward No. 6 of Harta union, applied for the post of office assistant at the school.
The interview for the post was held at Barisal Government Zila School on Friday where one Ratan Roy stood first and was selected for the post while Liton secured 15th position.
Angered, Liton went to the school on Saturday morning and beat up the headmaster and later put a garland of shoes around his neck.
Hearing the news, students and teachers of the school rushed to the spot and rescued the headmaster. They also burst into a protest and boycotted classes demanding punishment of the culprit.
Contacted, local ruling party lawmaker Advocate Talukdar Mohammad Yunus said he would look into the matter.
The OC of Uzirpur police station said he was yet to get any allegation in this regard.
On the other hand, Liton Pandey refused to talk on the issue when this correspondent contacted him over cellphone.
