Fisherman injured in firing, trawler looted
Robbers looted fishing trawler, injuring a fisherman on Meghna River near Dhalchar under Hatiya upazila yesterday afternoon.
Milon Majhi of village Jahajmara was admitted to the upazila health complex and then shifted to Noakhali Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Moktar Hossain, officer in-charge at Hatiya police station, said at least nine fishermen including Milon went to the river for fishing from Hatiya ghat around 5:00am.
While returning home after fishing, a gang led by Nijam (head of Nizam Bahini) opened fire on them at around 2pm near Dhalchar and took away the trawler.
The robbers managed to flee the scene sensing that other trawlers were coming to the spot, said the OC.
